Two voices, two languages, one sound: The Bernese band Farao (CH) brings subtle pop in English and dialect.
The band cannot be described as newcomers. Farao gave concerts in the Mahogany Hall in Bern, in the Bären Buchsi and the Schützi Olten in the previous line-up and under the name Bephone until 2006. 20 Minutes once wrote that the Bern band Farao “plays songs from the heart”; and in the Berner Zeitung it was said that with her songs Farao presents “stories that life just writes - sometimes amusing, sometimes strange, sometimes melancholic”.In 2018 Farao came together with a new line-up (Sereti Venzin: voc / Matthias Kägi: voc, keys, synth-bass / Carlo Capun: git, voc, bass, dr programming / Tom Dürig, dr). The band used the Corona turmoil to record several songs from their pool of material. The first demos and live recordings were broadcast straight away in 2023 on indie radios such as Kanal K (Aarau), LoRa (Zurich) and Radio Rocher (Neuchâtel). At the beginning of September, Farao released her single “I Used To Sing Love Songs”. In November the band followed up with the dialect song “Ei Stief vüre”. On April 19, 2024, Farao will release her new single "Life Has Just Begun", and an EP is in the works.
