In the 1960s, during the Cold War, an imposing anti-aircraft guided missile emplacement was built on the Gubel.

For 35 years the Swiss Army's BL64-ZG guided missile emplacement on Gubel was top secret. In 1964, this ground-to-air guided missile position 'Bloodhound' was built on a 20 hectare area. It was decommissioned at the end of 1999. Now the installation is protected as a monument of regional importance. The original installations of Battery North with eight former launchers remain completely preserved.
