Reading with author Wilfried Meichtry
In his new novel "Nach oben sinken", Wilfried Meichtry tells the story of an imaginative teenager who suffers from the raw narrowness of the Catholic Valais village world of the 1970s and 1980s and struggles against an unapproachable adult world that has forgotten how to speak because of its silence. The boy, who is looking for closeness and affection, withdraws more and more into the world of his imagination and becomes an outsider in the village. When he accidentally discovers that he has an uncle who disappeared without trace decades ago, he is convinced that he has found his only true relative. In his investigations, however, he once again runs up against a wall of silence.
