Symposium "History of the Three Leagues"

"Three Leagues for Life" is the motto for the "500 Years of the Free State of the Three Leagues" anniversary in 2024. At a symposium in Bregaglia on the history of the founding period of the Three Leagues, historians will discuss the questions that are of interest in this context: Why did the Three Leagues merge in 1524? Did the Federal Charter of the Three Leagues also come about largely because of the "danger from the south" (in particular from Gian Giacomo Medici's private army)? What political game were the major European powers of the time playing in what is now Lombardy and Graubünden? What role did Valchiavenna and Bregaglia play as the gateway to the Three Leagues? Did the Reformation movement have anything to do with it? The event is aimed at a wider audience and will be held in two languages with simultaneous translation (German-Italian)
