Bernard Garo graduated from ECAL in 1989 with a painting prize.
Bernard Garo has always been concerned about the accelerating deterioration of glaciers, having observed and measured their shrinkage and the resulting consequences, and has made this the main theme of his current multidisciplinary work.
His work, which has for years been devoted to social and especially environmental issues, won him the first Grand Prix Artivist Lion in Venice for the manifesto film Crevasse, released in 2022 and co-directed with Marc Décosterd.
He was then invited to take up an art and science residency at Geneva's Natural History Museum, which gave him free rein to exhibit his work between 2022 and 2023. A book on his explorations at the MNH has just been published.
