Exhibition
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the “Open Book” workshop, the exhibition The Curator’s Mission: What if your books could last another 100 years? invites visitors to discover the behind-the-scenes world of written heritage conservation and restoration.
Through a scientific yet sensitive approach, the exhibition highlights the techniques, skills, and materials used to preserve books, documents, and works on paper and parchment for future generations.
As a non-profit and distinctly educational initiative, it seeks to make an often misunderstood field more accessible to the public. Visitors will discover the raw materials used in conservation and restoration, the techniques employed to stabilize, repair, or consolidate works, as well as the principles that guide each intervention.
The exhibition also emphasizes that preserving heritage is not solely the responsibility of professionals. It offers practical guidance on adopting best practices in everyday life and avoiding common mistakes that can accelerate the deterioration of documents. Whether concerning family archives, antique books, or objects of sentimental value, everyone can contribute to their preservation.
At the crossroads of science, craftsmanship, and the transmission of knowledge, The Curator’s Mission invites visitors to take a fresh look at their collections and imagine their future… 100 years from now.
