A «Social Hologram» with Mo Diener and Naveen Shamsudhin

As part of the current exhibition Mo Diener – Hologram, the Rehmann Museum invites you to an in-depth, interdisciplinary discussion on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. In this discussion, artist Mo Diener and Dr. Naveen Shamsudhin (Kaleido) will explore the fascinating concept of the “social hologram.”

The “social hologram” combines artistic practice with revolutionary approaches to human collaboration and mutual support. The starting point for the discussion is the project The Hologram (developed by Cassie Thornton / Feminist Economics Department). Behind it lies a visionary idea: a feminist science fiction concept has been translated here into a self-organized set of rules for everyday life—a so-called autonomous protocol. In practical terms, this means that people organize themselves—independently of government or institutional bodies—into small groups of four to support one another, listen to one another, and paint a multidimensional picture of their health. What begins as a small-scale, decentralized project grows into an exponential network, evolving into a solidarity-based alternative to capitalist structures.

In their dialogue, Mo Diener and Naveen Shamsudhin (Kaleido) bridge the gap between these utopian yet concrete protocols of solidarity and the pressing questions of our time: How can social networks and systemic structures interlock to enable new forms of care, healing, and community? Can such a viral system of care break through physical or even digital isolation?
