The Musée du Léman welcomes you to its ‘Ceci n'est pas une carte’ exhibition
There are thousands of maps representing Lake Geneva. Among this multitude, the exhibition presents about a hundred.

A map is a more or less faithful reflection of the space it represents. But it is also a reflection of its time, its cartographer, and the concerns and intentions of the latter. A map can help with orientation or itinerary planning, but it can also claim a territory, convey scientific knowledge, or attract tourists.

The hundred maps presented in the exhibition are all different. Each of these maps is unique. Each tells its own story. Each is a page in the life of Lake Geneva and the lives of its inhabitants.

This is not an exhibition of maps. This is the portrait of a lake.

Vernissage on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 6:30 p.m.

Guided tours of the exhibition, free with admission ticket: Sundays, October 13, November 10, and December 15, 2024, January 12, February 9, March 9, April 13, May 11, and June 15, 2025.
