Xavier Voirol's photographic exploration of the Chasseral foothills in the Jura mountains plunges visitors into a world of timeless beauty. Through his lens, this familiar territory is transformed into an elusive land where the real vies with the imaginary. Magnifying the minimalist nature of the landscapes, the black-and-white images in the AETHER series, shot in silver medium format, transcend a restricted space of 3.5 km2 into an infinite universe.
AETHER is Xavier Voirol's latest book, published by ACTEDITIONS with an afterword by Michel Poivert. A former president and photographer with FOCALE, Voirol's images are a slow meditation on the abstraction of territory.
