Focus collection: Hémisphère

Kunstmuseum Solothurn, Werkhofstrasse 30, 4500 Solothurn
1st floor, large skylight room
Important donations by the two artists Ingeborg Lüscher (* 1936) and Silvie Defraoui (* 1935) are the occasion for this collection presentation, in which sense and sensuality play off each other. In the titular photograph "Hémisphère" (1993), Silvie Defraoui demonstrates how the human eye is trained to immediately read a horizontal line as a horizon and a landscape as a landscape. Against the background of our information society, in which everything is mediated only through intermediary media, the artist raises the question of authentic experiences of landscape and nature. In her works, Ingeborg Lüscher traces the relationship between nature and man, light and darkness, life and transience. While the pictures from the early 1980s focus on the radiance of man, the later volcano pictures tell of the untamed forces of nature.

With works by Ruth Berger, Miriam Cahn, Silvie Defraoui, Ingeborg Lüscher and Andrea Wolfensberger.
