Cinema nights on the Osterfinger village square
Every year, an open-air cinema is held on the village square in Osterfingen. In addition to first-class films and a unique atmosphere, you can look forward to a spaghetti feast.

The village square cinema was held in Osterfingen for the first time in 1992. In conversation with Gabi Buff, who organized the festival together with other young families at the time, I hear many amusing details about how the idea came about and how adventurous and exciting the first cinema nights were. In the early years, the motto was "spaghetti to spaghetti westerns", with hard-hitting Wild West films being shown. The spaghetti was cooked on the wood stove in Trudi Stoll's kitchen and taken out onto the village square. Each of the participating families had to fry 5 kg of minced meat, which was then cooked in a large pot with tomato sauce to make sugo.
The film projector for the first 8-millimeter film was so weak that the full moon rising over the Rossberg almost completely overshadowed the image on the screen and we had to make do with the sound. We washed up in the school kitchen until dawn.
Today we work with the finest film and sound technology and the food is prepared by our experienced kitchen team with a mobile wood-fired kitchen. Almost twice as many seats can be offered and even the washing up and tidying up are thoroughly organized. However, a few little things have remained the same as at the beginning: admission is free for everyone and all the many hours of work are done by the helpers for free. Almost every Osterfinger family bakes cakes or lends a hand in whatever way they can.
