About us
The Leontica Historical Militia is an association that preserves a tradition dating back to 1812, in memory of the Blenio soldiers involved in Napoleon's Russian campaign. The club keeps Leontica's historical memory and identity alive through the celebration of the patron saint's day, St. John the Baptist. The Militia offers its members participation in events and celebrations that honor this ancient vow, such as parades in period uniforms. It is a living expression of local history and faith, officially recognized as a Swiss Living Tradition. The association engages its members in activities such as convivial dinners, chestnut festivals, and participation in cultural and commemorative events. Its primary target audience is those who wish to preserve and pass on the history and traditions of the Leontica and Blenio Valley communities.
