Basketimeout Association
Constituted by Assembly on 14 June 2018, the Basketimeout association is non-profit, apolitical, non-denominational and has an unlimited duration.
The main purpose is the annual organisation of an international youth basketball tournament and the association's aims also include the organisation of other sporting events, participation in events linked to local traditions or the territory and collaboration with local events, preferably organised by clubs based in Bellinzona, of a sporting and/or recreational nature.
The backbone of the association is made up of the Committee, around ten working groups and, above all, around fifty volunteers who work mainly during the Easter weekend. Their contribution is fundamental: without them, an event such as the U18 international tournament would be impossible.
A bit of history
Thanks to the enterprising spirit of a group of basketball enthusiasts, the first edition of the tournament was organised in 2012. It was a competitive event, but also a fun one.
After two years dedicated to the under-13 teams and others to the under-15 teams, since 2016 - with the intention of completing the international sporting offer of the city of Bellinzona - the boys of the under-18 selections have been treading the parquet of the capital.
During the Easter weekend, teams from all over the world take to the court to compete for the final victory. A very intense four days in which it is not only the result that counts.
