Zachéos, a name with Anniviers roots, comes from a legend. It tells the story of a deformed dwarf who came to the valley to evangelise the inhabitants.
The Zachéos were founded in 1962 by Monette Daetwyler, her father Jean Daetwyler and Léon Monnier.
Their wish was to create a dance group with a new style, straddling the past and the future.
This style allows the expression of feelings in harmony with the modern way of living and thinking.
The Zacchéos reflect the diversity of the traditional culture and by their youth, revive the traditions in an active way. Thus they do not risk being abandoned or forgotten.
