Orchestra mandolinistica di Lugano

The Lugano Mandolin Orchestra is an association founded in 1990. Its purpose is to promote musical, cultural, and recreational values. The orchestra aims to promote awareness of mandolin and guitar music. It offers its members the pleasure of making music together. The ensemble comprises mandolins, mandolas, mandoloncellos, guitars, bass guitar, acoustic bass, and plectrum double bass. The repertoire is vast and includes folk music from Ticino and other countries. Original compositions for plectrum orchestras and classical music are also performed. The orchestra frequently collaborates with internationally renowned soloists. The association also runs a mandolin and guitar school. The school's goal is to prepare students to join the Lugano Mandolin Orchestra. The school's audience includes adults and children aged nine and up, with no previous experience.
