Fischereiverein Obertoggenburg

About us

The Obertoggenburg Fishing Association, founded in 1891, is dedicated to promoting fishing. The association currently has a maximum of 230 active members. It has leased the Schwendi Lakes and the Thur River from Wildhaus to Ebnat-Kappel, including its tributaries such as the Dürrenbach, Wissthur, Luteren, and Steintalerbach, where members can pursue their hobby. The association's main objectives include promoting and managing fishing in the leased waters, ensuring maintenance work, and operating its own fish hatcheries. Furthermore, the association manages the waters efficiently and monitors fish populations and the condition of the waters to prevent damage. The association also offers its members continuing education opportunities in fishing-related matters to promote responsible angling practices. Guest anglers are granted permission to fish through the issuance of permits. Members are obligated to comply with fishing regulations and report any pollution. The club's target group is passionate anglers who seek relaxation by the water, the opportunity to focus on technique, and the camaraderie of fellow anglers. Memberships are offered for active, passive, and honorary members, with active members having the opportunity to fish in the waters and participate in club activities. Young anglers are given special support and can also purchase an annual permit under certain conditions.
