Imkerverein Vorderland AR

About us

The Vorderland AR Beekeeping Association is a group of over 60 members who have been dedicated to the well-being of honeybees in the Appenzell Vorderland region and the surrounding communities since 1882. The association promotes beekeeping and raises beekeepers' awareness of animal welfare. It is also committed to the protection and preservation of biodiversity. The association engages in public relations work to sensitize the population to bee-related issues as well as animal and environmental protection. Members are offered regular beekeeping meetings with continuing education lectures and practical workshops on current beekeeping topics. Furthermore, visits to apiaries provide in-depth insights into various management and husbandry practices. The association also offers a basic beekeeping course according to the guidelines of BienenSchweiz (Swiss Beekeepers Association). Members and interested parties can contact the association if a swarm of bees needs to be captured. The association also organizes activities such as the "Honeybee" discovery trail, which provides information about biodiversity and the role of the honeybee. Members can also purchase regional honey. The target group of the association consists of beekeepers and people who are interested in beekeeping and the protection of honeybees.
