About us
The Brass Band Rapperswil-Wierezwil (BBRW) is a music association that evolved from the former Wierezwil trombone choir. The association's goal is to rehearse interesting and challenging music in a friendly community. This music is presented to audiences at various public performances. The members come from the region between Bern and Biel. The band regularly participates in music competitions such as the Swiss Brass Band Competition, cantonal and national music festivals, and the Seeland Brass Band Competition. The BBRW also offers opportunities for musical development. The association places great emphasis on training young musicians through professional brass lessons in cooperation with the regional music school in Lyss. Juniors can gain stage experience by participating in the main band's annual concerts, open-air events, and Advent concerts. In addition to the main ensemble, the BBRW also has the Quartetto Grande, a smaller group for smaller performances such as church services or providing musical accompaniment for festivals. The musical direction is currently held by Boris Oppliger.
