Bienenzuchtverein Obersimmental

About us

The Bienenzuchtverein Obersimmental is a beekeeping association located in the Obersimmental region, including Lenk and Zweisimmen. They are actively involved in beekeeping practices and promoting bee health. The club manages a teaching apiary in Zweisimmen, referred to as "Sackwäldli." A significant undertaking is their project aiming to establish a Varroa mite-free zone by 2030, involving 65 beekeepers and around 500 Carnica bee colonies. Members are engaged in lineage breeding of Carnica bees and participate in resistance breeding programs. The association offers its members various services, including workshops and training sessions on topics like infestation diagnosis, integrated treatment methods, and practical beekeeping skills. They also provide opportunities for members to acquire queens, particularly those bred for mite resistance. Furthermore, they maintain a marketplace section where members can advertise items for sale. The club organizes regular meetings, workdays, and advisory sessions throughout the year for its membership. The target audience for the club is primarily beekeepers operating in the Obersimmental area who are interested in modern, health-conscious beekeeping and advanced breeding techniques.
