About us
The Wildhorn section of the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) is based in Zweisimmen and serves the Simmental and Diemtigtal valleys. Founded in 1920, the section currently has approximately 570 members. It offers a wide range of tours for its members, including hiking, climbing, mountaineering, ski touring, and cycling. A very active youth organization, the JO, caters to children and young people aged 6 to 22, offering extensive training and tour programs. The section is a co-owner of the Wildstrubel Hut, located high in the Wildstrubel massif. It also maintains the privately owned Fromatt Hut above Blankenburg. Alpine rescue is a key focus, and the section operates three rescue stations in Lenk, Zweisimmen, and Erlenbach.
