Gemeinnützigen Frauenverein Möhlin

About us

The Gemeinnütziger Frauenverein Möhlin is a non-profit women's association founded in 1861 that operates independently of religious and political affiliations. The association supports individuals or families in need, as well as institutions with social tasks, using income from membership fees, the proceeds of their work, and donations. They work closely with social welfare offices and counseling centers, viewing themselves as a supplement to state social assistance. Members of the association offer several forms of practical help and activities. They run a second-hand shop called the Brockenstube, where they accept and sell various donated goods, and they also have a Creative Workshop where members knit and sew items, often for charitable purposes like supporting aid for Romania or baby hats for Madagascar. The club organizes various social events for its members and the community, such as a traditional gathering called the Herbsthock, excursions for single women, and special outings for nursing home residents, including visits with music and cake, a bingo afternoon, and wheelchair excursions. They also uphold the tradition of distributing "Schuelzöpfli" (a type of bread) to future first-graders to mark their transition to school. The target audience for the club includes anyone interested in supporting local social welfare efforts, both through passive membership with financial contributions or through active volunteer work in their various projects.
