About us

The Pro Supersaxa association, based in Obersaxen, was founded in 1970 to preserve the language, customs, and traditions of the Walser people in Obersaxen. The association's primary focus is the cultivation and preservation of the Walser language, "ds Obarsàxar Titsch." The association pursues non-profit, politically neutral, and religiously unbiased goals. It offers its approximately 400 members the opportunity to actively participate in preserving Obersaxen's culture. The association publishes an annual journal covering events and key topics from the community. Furthermore, Pro Supersaxa produces extensive publications and books on the Obersaxen language and local history. The association also undertakes projects to preserve traditional buildings and institutions, aiming to pass on traditional crafts and ways of life to future generations. The association's target audience includes everyone interested in the Walser people of Obersaxen, their language, and their history.
