Associazione Pagliarte

Pagliarte Association is a creative association in the Locarno area dedicated to straw crafting, combining the ancient traditions of the Onsernone Valley with a modern and dynamic spirit. Our primary goal is to keep the tradition of straw crafting alive in this valley. The association offers a variety of handcrafted straw creations, made by woven rice straw and stitching it with leather sewing machines. Among the products offered are both traditional and modern hats, bags, belts, tableware, and baskets, all unique pieces. Pagliarte also offers the innovative rye straw straw project, as an eco-sustainable contribution to reviving the use of this traditional material. Pagliarte also organizes activities to engage the public. We offer creative workshops for adults and children on traditional straw sewing and weaving, where they can create items such as keychains, wreaths, or personalized tableware. A guided tour with snack is also available, allowing you to observe the process of sewing a straw hat firsthand, led by an expert artisan. Our audience is made up of supporters who wish to support the promotion of Onsernonese traditions and people interested in authentic craftsmanship and the creation of unique straw objects.
