Giftschnaigge

About us

The Giftschnaigge are a carnival society and clique from Basel that has participated in the Cortège since 1952. The association cultivates the traditions of Basel's carnival and fosters friendship among its members throughout the year. The name Giftschnaigge translates to "Poisonous Mouth" or "Cheeky Snout." The group is divided into a main association and a junior guard. The main association is open to members of all genders aged 18 and over. The junior guard accepts children from the age of 7. The association offers its own rehearsals for piccolo and drums. A special offering is the highly successful piccolo and drum courses for adults. These courses are aimed at future carnival participants of all genders to learn to play the drums and piccolo. Advanced courses are available for active members and junior guard aspirants to improve their skills.
