SABB Società Alpinistica Bassa Blenio

The Società Alpinistica Bassa Blenio, founded in 1995, is an association committed to promoting awareness and respect for the natural and environmental beauty of the Malvaglia Valley and the mountains of the Lower Blenio Valley. The association builds and manages mountain huts, most notably the Capanna Quarnei, which opened in 1999. Furthermore, the SABB aims to contribute to the understanding of the local rural culture and to instill a passion for the mountains by organizing social outings and climbing and mountaineering courses for the valley's youth. The association offers members benefits such as discounts on overnight stays in affiliated mountain huts and on the Malvaglia cable car, as well as a subscription to the magazine "L'Alpinista Ticinese." The Capanna Quarnei, managed by the association, offers overnight accommodations for 60 people, meals prepared by the caretaker during his stay, and the possibility of self-catering in the winter. The hut is an ideal starting point for hikes, multi-day treks, and ascents to important peaks like Mount Adula, and also features a climbing crag. The company's target audience is all mountain enthusiasts who wish to discover and appreciate the rich natural and historical heritage of the Malvaglia Valley.
