Società Filarmonica Arogno

About us

The Società Filarmonica Arogno is a non-political and non-denominational musical society founded in 1839. Its purpose is to study and teach instrumental music and to bring prestige to its town and surrounding region. The society currently has about fifty active members. It offers its members participation in the main musical group and also maintains a smaller ensemble called the Bandella which plays popular and characteristic music for local events. The Filarmonica runs a music school for students. This school includes preparatory courses for the youngest children, called Giocomusicando, which introduces music through play, rhythm, and melody. The society also owns and manages a theatre with 160 seats which can be rented for various events. Members participate in local and cantonal music festivals to compare their skills and seek improvement.
