6780 Airolo
On September 11, 2027, the historic Tremola del Passo del San Gottardo will host the Everesting, one of the most fascinating challenges in endurance cycling, for the first time in Switzerland.
The concept of Everesting is as simple as it is demanding: riding the same climb repeatedly until reaching a specific amount of elevation gain. In the most extreme category, the Full Solo, the goal is to achieve 8,848 metres of elevation gain, equivalent to the height of Mount Everest.
Starting from Airolo, participants will climb towards the Gotthard Pass along the characteristic hairpin bends and cobblestones of the Tremola, one of Switzerland’s most iconic historic roads. The descent will take place on a paved road.
In addition to the full 8,848-metre challenge, various individual and team formats with different elevation gain targets will be available, allowing amateur cyclists and enthusiasts to experience Everesting and choose the challenge best suited to their abilities.
Airolo will be the hub for the entire weekend, combining the sporting challenge with an opportunity to experience and discover the Gotthard region.
Among those taking part in the event will be Vincenzo Nibali, Everesting ambassador, and Ticino athlete Guido Toscanelli, Ultracycling & Everesting Local Ambassador.
