The Song of Songs is at the heart of the program brought to us by the Ensemble Zefiro Torna, the Vocalconsort Berlin and the Arabic singer Ghalia Benali. The biblical collection of poems about erotic love - interpreted in the Christian context in particular as an allegory of God's love for us humans - was set to music many times in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. In this concert, works by Hildegard von Bingen, Claudio Monteverdi and other Western composers are combined with the fascinating soundscape of oriental music.
