Known for its building skills, the beaver is mainly active at night. Now protected, the beaver is taking advantage of the renaturation of rivers to extend its territory.
Reintroduced into the Broye between 1972 and 1975, the beaver is a tireless builder of dams and lodges to shelter its family. A protected species in Switzerland since the 1960s, the beaver plays a major role in shaping landscapes and ecosystems, particularly rivers. Accompanied by a specialist from the Broye Source de Vie association, you will discover the largest rodent in Europe.

Since 2009, the Broye Source de Vie Association has been working tirelessly to renaturalise this emblematic river of the region. Previously entirely channelled between Moudon and Salavaux, the renaturation of the Broye allows the water temperature to be lowered and the flow to be regulated throughout the year, thus increasing its biodiversity. The Association also works closely with farmers to find sustainable solutions for crop irrigation.
