The most famous, long-deceased piano greats of the turn of the last century play on the Steinway 'Welte-Mignon' reproduction piano, the celebrated 'new wonder of the world' of the piano and music world in 1904. These include Suzanne Godenne, Ferrucio Busoni, I.J. Paderewski, Claude Debussy, Eugen d'Albert, Rudolph Ganz, Edvard Grieg and many more.
For visitors, it is a very special experience to be able to see the piano keys moving as if by ghostly hands and follow the music as it unfolds, in addition to enjoying the sound.
The recording devices were destroyed during the Second World War, and the two inventors, Edwin Welte and Karl Bockisch, took the big, closely guarded secret of how they worked with them to their graves. The mystery surrounding this invention will therefore probably never be revealed. However, the musical enjoyment lives on, entirely in keeping with the spirit of the inventors and the artists of that time. Catering: There is a small café in the building or the Gemeindehaus restaurant directly across the street.
There is no box office. Please use the advance ticket sales.
This is an external offer which is marketed via Schaffhauserland Tourism. Provider: Museumsverein Beringen
Schloss Beringen, Steig 5, 8222 Beringen The event will take place in the newly created "Mechanical Musical Instruments" department in the new extension of Schloss Beringen.
