Artist's statement of work

The paintings and artworks exhibited here in the commune of Collombey-Muraz represent a continuous series of works directly in response to the Swiss landscape, from the time we, as a family, moved to Switzerland in April 2017 to the present day.

Being directly surrounded and so close to nature, especially mountains, trees, crops, rocks, lakes as well as the four seasons, the ever-changing light, sky and clouds, leaves me in awe of nature's beauty. I pay tribute to nature's sublime beauty and the way it affects me emotionally, intellectually and spiritually.

The paintings are in two parts.

1) Landscape paintings are a direct visual response to the local landscape.

2) Mountains have a strong magnetic force and I am drawn to them. Production of these paintings began in 2017 when we arrived and is an ongoing subject. I'm interested in the grandiose, majestic and mystical character of mountains. I want the paintings to be a portrait of grandeur, character and individuality in different seasons.
