This UNIGE exhibition explores some of the recurring mathematical themes in the work of the Dutch artist M.C. Escher.
This exhibition explores the recurring mathematical themes in the work of Dutch artist M.C. Escher (1898-1972), revealing an intriguing harmony between artistic creativity and mathematical rigour.
Impossible architectures invite us to discover dimensions and perspective, while hyperbolic geometry plunges us into a world governed by surprising laws. The paving stones, omnipresent in M.C. Escher's work, are revealed as creative tools, allowing us to draw and colour, as well as discovering very recent research results.
