Vent du Valais" wind quintet

The "Walliser Wind" wind quintet was founded at the end of 2019 by five musicians: Sarah-Maria Schmid (flute), Yann Martig (oboe), Pascal Zenklusen (clarinet), Natalie Holzer (bassoon) and Marcial Holzer (horn). They all hail from Brig-Glis, and have known each other since the days of Jugendmusik. This unique constellation, combined with a deep and long-standing friendship, gives birth to a unique body of sound, very gentle and warm.

After the initial rehearsal phases, the quintet inevitably had to take a break in 2020 due to the global pandemic. The joy was all the greater when the quintet was able to celebrate its extremely successful debut in October 2022 at the Brig Castle Concerts, thus kicking off its concert activities.

Although their origins couldn't be closer, the world of music readily scatters them to the four corners of the globe. This is why the quintet needs guests from time to time, and is delighted to welcome Daniela Engel, who will replace Pascal Zenklusen on clarinet at this year's "Grängjerkulturtäg".
