"Maskentreiber" and "Trychler" will be out and about throughout the village from 13.00. From 20.00 the maskers will be unmasked and there will be musical entertainment at the Sporthotel Habkern.
The "Maskentreiber" and "Trychler" at the beginning of the year is a custom and native to the Reformed areas and typical of some places in the Bernese Oberland. This is also the case in Habkern, where strange figures with masks and the sound of bells and strings drive away the evil spirits as in the past. From 20.00 o'clock the maskers are unmasked and there is musical entertainment in the Sporthotel Habkern.
