Discover the extraordinary story of the La Sagne Museum and celebrate 100 years since its move to its current home!

It all began in 1876, when a group of devoted villagers founded the “Société d’Instruction Mutuelle” (SIM) to share knowledge within their community.
Collections in natural sciences, history, archaeology, watchmaking, ethnography, fine arts and numismatics quickly outgrew their space. The SIM fought for nearly 30 years to build a “real” museum. In 1922, thanks to a village vote, the project for a dedicated building was approved – also including a conference hall, gymnasium and municipal office. The museum opened in 1925! After ups and downs, it was abandoned in the 1960s, until another small village team restored it in 1976. Its reopening was celebrated in 1982 – and it has remained open ever since.
