The art shown on the tour interacts with the conditions on site. In the rooms of the Rehmann Museum, works of art are shown that address the relationship between humans and nature.
The exhibition "Schimelrych to Chrottehalde - Art and Nature in Laufenburg" is a cooperation between the Jurapark Aargau and the Rehmann-Museum Laufenburg. It takes place both in the museum and as a tour in the outdoor space and shows current and regional Swiss art in comparison to international trends. The exhibition title "Schimelrych to Chrottehalde" describes the local field names. Starting from the Rehmann-Museum, the 'Schimelrych', the tour leads out into the cultural landscape and into the forest above the town of Laufenburg to the 'Chrottehalde' and back to the old town of Laufenburg.

Art and landscape are in a reciprocal relationship with each other: the Rehmann-Museum shows works that focus on the relationship with nature, while on the tour through the town of Laufenburg and the surrounding forest area there are works of art to discover that are specifically exposed to the natural conditions at each location and interact with them. The focus is on the idea of mutualistic art. Mutualism refers to an exchange in which both sides can benefit from each other, in this case in the field of ecology.

Ten works of art created by artists especially for this location will be shown along the path: Agnes Barmettler, Dora Freiermuth, Isabelle Krieg and Marianne Engel, Landra (Sara Rodrigues and Rodrigo B. Camacho), Ursula Rutishauser, Lorenz Olivier Schmid, Stefan Strumbel, Riikka Tauriainen, Jan van Oordt, Hannah Weinberger.
In the Rehmann Museum there are additional works by Charlatan, Fernando García-Dory, Patricia Johanson, Cameron Robbins, Gerda Steiner & Jörg Lenzlinger, Mili Weber and the other artists on the tour.

To complement the exhibition, the Jurapark Aargau and the Rehmann Museum are issuing a publication. It offers interesting insights into the works on the tour and in the exhibition as well as the reciprocal relationship between art and nature. The book launch will take place at the opening of the exhibition on March 22, 2024.

As part of the exhibition, the Rehmann Museum and the Jurapark Aargau are planning numerous events and guided tours for various target groups. During the guided tours, school classes can playfully engage with the art positions on the circular route and create their own nature art at the end of the tour at the creation site. This multifaceted project - initiated by the Rehmann-Museum - can be realized thanks to the generous financial support of Swisslos Kanton AG, the LEBENSRAUM AARGAU Foundation, the Göhner Foundation and the Dr. Georg and Josi Guggenheim Foundation.
