From August 29 through December 13, 2026, the Rehmann-Museum in Laufenburg will present Hologram, a comprehensive retrospective of works by Zurich-based artist Mo Diener. The exhibition spans four decades of artistic creation and combines personal archival research with an archaeological search for clues.

At the heart of the exhibition is the new hologram The Archaeologist. As an audiovisual 3D narrative, it serves as a portal that immediately transports visitors out of the present and into another time. The starting point for this work was a spectacular archaeological discovery in Lake Zug. In close collaboration with an archaeologist, a river surveyor, and a musician, Mo Diener has created a narrative that weaves together research, visionary dreams, and documentary evidence into a fluid journey through time.

A multifaceted universe of videos, objects, and photographs unfolds around this work. Diener, who has been active as a performance and media artist since the late 1980s, combines her own work in an archival manner with local found objects from Laufenburg and the surrounding area. This creates a dynamic dialogue between her transdisciplinary practice and the specific history of the place.

The exhibition is accompanied by a comprehensive monograph (in German and English) published by Scheidegger & Spiess.

About the Artist
Mo Diener (born in 1961 in Horgen) lives and works in Zurich. Her practice encompasses performances, interventions, and installations that have garnered international recognition. After studying ethnology, cultural anthropology, and religious studies, she completed training in art, design, and video art. In 2013, she was a co-founder of the Roma Jam Session art collective active until 2023, and manages its archive.
