New Year's Eve with RSI
After the huge success of Cialtroni in Lugano Marittima this summer, and following live broadcasts from the RSI booth in Piazza della Riforma, DJ Griso and DJ Sterky from Rete Tre will be in Piazza della Riforma to liven up the magical night of New Year's Eve. The square will be the focus of the program “Aspettando mezzanotte” (Waiting for midnight) broadcast on RSI LA1.
New Year Ceremony
To celebrate the arrival of the new year, the Municipality of Lugano invites the public to join in the New Year's Eve celebrations at the Palazzo dei Congressi.
The festivities will begin on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with a parade starting from Piazza della Riforma, passing through Piazza Manzoni and Riva Albertolli, and ending at 11:10 a.m. at the Palazzo dei Congressi, where the official part of the celebrations will take place, followed by a convivial gathering. After Lugano Mayor Michele Foletti has greeted the Civic Fire Brigade and the Lugano Volunteer Corps, it will be time for musical performances by the Civic Philharmonic Orchestra. Afterwards, attendees will move to the amphitheater, where the ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. As is tradition, Mayor Michele Foletti will give a speech, followed by a surprise guest. The event will be enlivened by artistic and musical entertainment. A sign language interpreter will be present during the ceremony. The event will be presented by Davide Riva, RSI journalist.
At approximately 12:30 p.m., all those present are cordially invited to refreshments provided by the City and to exchange New Year's greetings in Room B of the Palazzo dei Congressi.
