True to its tradition of bringing unjustly forgotten works to light, Amaryllis is stepping outside its usual repertoire—which typically leaps from early music straight to contemporary, skipping everything in between. This time, we are bringing you a Romantic music program composed entirely by women.
These women had to fight against a culture that reserved the honors of art and fame strictly for men. Conservatories, prestigious appointments, and official creative recognition were all a fiercely guarded boys' club. Women were often only permitted to compose with the explicit approval of their fathers or husbands, and some promising careers were cut short simply to prevent these brilliant minds from gaining independence.

While a few were celebrated in their own time, many were methodically erased by later historians. Others were confined to local recognition, facing immense hurdles just to get their music performed. Yet, the rediscovered scores reveal a depth, richness, and quality that rival any of their male contemporaries.
