OPEN DAY AND PARADE WITH CLOTHES FROM THE PAST
The Valposchiavo Museums season opens with the traditional Open Day at the Aino Mill and Cultural Heritage Conservation Center on Saturday, May 16, 2026. For this edition, the focus is on the museum heritage of the cultural repository opened in 2021, particularly the area of clothing from the past.
ONE OF THE 150 HISTORIC SITES
This year's event is again part of Switzerland's national Mill Day programme, with as many as 150 mills open between May 16 and 17. The pre-industrial craft complex will open its doors for the occasion with millstones, forge and sawmill in action, thanks to the power of water taken from the river Poschiavino.
PARADE WITH CLOTHING FROM THE PAST
In addition to the opening of the pre-industrial complex, a parade of clothing from the past will be organized in this edition. The conservation center will become the backstage of an old fashion runway show that in a sympathetic and instructive way aims to brush up on customs and habits of the time gone by to reflect on the changes in society and its trends.
PROGRAMME
1 p.m.: Open doors of the Aino Pre-Industrial Craft Complex
3 p.m.: Parade of clothes from the past
3.45 p.m.: Refreshment with tasting of Baron's Cheese aged for more than 12 months in the cellar of the Palazzo de Bassus-Mengotti and delicacies from Valposchiavo.
5 p.m.: Closing
USEFUL INFORMATION
Car parking available along the cantonal road.
The event site can be reached by Postbus, stop Mulino Aino.
Open houses will be held in all weather, while the parade is not guaranteed in bad weather.
