Apart from her vital and absolute love of nature and trees, Sophie Burbaloff's work explores the graphic and aesthetic aspects of the forest, with an aspiration to simplicity.

Sophie Burbaloff also experiments with her writing on canvas or wood. She tries out different thicknesses and transparencies, working again and again on the line, the trace, until she finds the one that suits her and triggers the visual emotion. It's an ongoing exploration where technique and chance meet and clash with multiple choices. This search leads her towards other subjects with different aesthetics, perhaps towards more poetry or abstraction.
