Solar eclipse in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of the observatory association. The family event par excellence during the school vacations!
Solar eclipse and anniversary celebrations for 30 years of the Rümlang Observatory Association
The anniversary party will start at 15 hrs: Music, presentations about the observatory and the solar eclipse, public viewing of live streams of the total phase (possibly Iceland, Spain) on screen, fine drinks and food from «Düüsewägeli», coffee and sweets from «Cafepedal», and much more.
Shortly after 19 hrs it gets exciting: We try to show live broadcasts of the total phase on monitors, parallel to this the partial phase of approx. 91% with the telescopes of the Rümlang observatory. At 20:45 hrs, the solar eclipse is over. But we continue to celebrate with the audience, make telescope observations of other objects and simply enjoy a hopefully mild, festive summer evening.
In the event of bad weather, the whole event will be moved 1:1 to the reformed parish hall, Kirchstrasse 11, Rümlang (only the telescope observations will be canceled). The decision will be announced the day before, on Tuesday 11 August 2026, from 12:00 hrs noon, via our voicemail on 044 817 06 83.
Registration for the event is essential for the bad weather option only, as the space available in the parish hall is limited. However, we are unable to accept registrations for the fair weather announcement at the observatory.
Registration for the bad-weather alternative: Anyone who absolutely does not want to miss our event can register in writing by email by 18:00 hrs on Monday 10 August at the latest: info@sternwarte-ruemlang.ch or via the contact form on the observatory’s website https://sternwarte-ruemlang.ch/index.php/kontakt-menueeintrag, stating your full name, the number of people, a telephone number and an email address.
