175 years Kunstverein Schaffhausen
The Kunstverein Schaffhausen is one of the oldest art associations in Switzerland. It was founded in 1848 by members of Schaffhausen's educated middle classes and local artists "to raise and stimulate the artistic spirit". To mark its 175th anniversary, the Museum zu Allerheiligen is dedicating a major exhibition to the Kunstverein. With around 200 exhibits - including prints, sculptures, paintings, photographs and installations - the exhibition tells the story of the Kunstverein's development from a small group of illustrious art connoisseurs to one of the most important players in contemporary art in the region. Selected anecdotes and stories provide atmospheric insights into the association's activities from its beginnings to the present day and allow special moments to pass in review. The accompanying program was conceived together with the Kunstverein. It focuses on experience and exchange as the essence of the association's life, because: Art unites! And has done so for 175 years.

Publication: The exhibition is accompanied by a publication published by NZZ Libro. The lavishly illustrated book comprises 192 pages and illuminates the history and present of the association from different perspectives in six text contributions.
