The Entlebuch Alpabfahrt takes place every year at the end of September. Over 300 head of cattle, accompanied by herdsmen make their way from their summering pastures to Schüpfheim.
The Entlebuch Alpabfahrt has grown into a true folk festival, one of the largest alpine descents in Switzerland and a kind of "little yodelling festival". In recent years, around 10,000 visitors have regularly greeted the Alpine families with their magnificently decorated animals as they return from the Alps to the valley. In the village of Schüpfheim on Saturday, one regional produce market stall follows the next, alternating with small snack bars. Yodel singing can be heard here, alphorns play there and brass band music can also be heard - it's simply cozy all round. Here, guests from near and far have the opportunity to experience folk traditions up close.
