Decay

A hand-forged cowbell is transformed into a fondue pot. Three hand-forged fondue forks slowly rotate in it while the bread overflows, rots and decays.

This installation evokes the essence of old Switzerland - a country known for its cowbells, cheese and time-honored gestures. Everything seems familiar and yet unsettling.

An audience-activated sound installation entitled "DECAY" explores the interplay between folklore and decay. The work restages the symbols of conviviality and national identity, automating the act of sharing and freezing tradition in an absurd loop. Beneath the familiar surface of metal and bread, something is disintegrating - slowly, much like an old habit that we retain out of reflex, an old Switzerland that we still deeply cherish.
