Following the successful musical monologue "Ferferi فرفری - Vom Ankommen und Fernbleiben", Atina Tabé is bringing her new theater text "80, 16 oder Leben" to the stage for the first time.
Following the staged reading with Barbara Grimm, Sarah Hostettler, Atina Tabé and musical interventions by Solothurn drummer Gregor Lisser, former TOBS dramaturge Svea Haugwitz will moderate an open discussion with the author.
"80, 16 or Life" places the topic of prenatal diagnostics in the context of interculturality. Everyone has an emotional opinion on the subject of abortion. What does this have to do with our cultural background - and what about the religion of our ancestors, which we may have long since discarded? And are humans even in a position to make decisions about life and death?
The title contains the coordinates of the fetus: 80 grams of body weight, 16 centimetres long - or life. This refers not only to the life of the unborn child, but also to the life of the main character Anna. Because if she had to take responsibility for a child with a genetic mutation, she would feel robbed of her own life. She had always resisted religion with all her might. But now she is afraid, because today she has brought death, she has played goddess.
The three-woman play "80, 16 or Life" does not provide any answers, but allows us to immerse ourselves with its contradictory characters in the archaic underground of their seemingly rational attitudes and thus leads us to the core questions of being human.
