Its founding alone made headlines that reached far beyond the country's borders. After all, the Echo vom Eierstock is the world's first feminist yodeling choir. The supposedly quintessentially Swiss art of singing is being stripped of its patriarchal roots and reinterpreted far away from outdated role models. Founded in Stans in 2022, the choir sings a farewell to stereotypical men, sweet women, dear mums and wicked wives; it does away with romantic alpine life and approaches lived diversity through yodeling. Under the direction of Simone Felber, the 50 women have already sung concerts at the Stans Musiktage, in the Bundeshaus and together with the band Traktorkestar at the Theater Casino Zug.
