The exhibition recalls the social upheavals 500 years ago that led to the dissolution of the Benedictine monastery and heralded a new era for the town of Stein am Rhein.
In July 1525, after more than 500 years, the rule of the abbots of Sankt Georgen over Stein am Rhein and the region came to an end.
The exhibition in the Amtmannssaal of the monastery museum sheds light on the religious, economic and political tensions that drove the Reformation in Stein and led to a new order under the rule of Zurich.
