In 1982, Bruce Springsteen - played in the film by Jeremy Allen White - is working on what is probably his most radical album: "Nebraska".
In a phase of inner turmoil, in which his own fame increasingly threatens to overwhelm him, he consciously decides against the recording studio. Instead, he withdrew to the seclusion of his bedroom. It was there that he created not rousing rock anthems, but dark, fragile songs - stories of guilt, loss and violence, recorded on a simple four-track recorder.
