Autumn is once again the season for the Brisolée!
On Saturday, 10 October 2026, visitors and locals alike will have the chance to enjoy a traditional Brisolée in Visp. Once again this year, chestnuts, cheese, cured ham, dried meat, apples and grapes will be served in the Eyholz chestnut grove.
The Brisolée actually originated in Valais for practical reasons. Workers in the fields wanted to celebrate a small feast once their work was done. To do so, they simply used the produce they could harvest or produce themselves. This included chestnuts, cheese, wine or cider, and later bacon and dried meat. This is how the tradition of the Brisolée came about, and it has been preserved to this day.
Time: 11.00 am – 4.00 pm
Where: Kaufplatz, Visp
